Homelessness is and has been a widely common issue in the big cities across the United States. Should homeless individuals have the need to be labeled as criminals? Trying to survive with little to no resources in a city where opposing laws take away most of homeless people’s rights make the issues raised by the "Homeless Bill of Rights" a bit controversial. According to ”‘Homeless Bill Of Rights’ Wants This bill will allow "people on the streets To Be Able To Freely Stand, Sit In Public” (source?).
It is very common to have opposition in every situation including Homelessness.
Homeless individuals often seek food, shelter, a place to set and sleep in public and resources from county facilities, but most of these things are a bit difficult for homeless people to obtain. Whether its neighborhoods complaining about homeless people, laws banning and prohibiting them from obtaining access to a lot of government resources or as stated in “New California Law Gives Free IDs To Homeless People So They Can Access Housing, School,” loss and/or unable to obtain identification documents in order to access shelters, benefit programs, public schools and other resources.
-develop this section more. Here you addressing two things 1) opposition the bill and 2) laws in place that make it difficult for the homeless - maybe seperate these into two sections and develop each more
So what difference would it make if none of these laws against homeless individuals existed? What difference would it make if neighborhoods wouldn't criminalize and prevent homeless people from accessing whatever resources they need to survive?
- it seems like the focus/position of what your final article can be is the "homeless bill of rights" and the reaction the community has as well as the effect it will have on the homeless
- you are going to want give more info (context) about the bill then to really inform your reader about the bill and what it is supposed to do. who came up with it, how long has it been in the making, what are the aspects to the bill, how much will it cost, etc.
- also you can develop your opposition paragraphs more
- consider how stereotypes of the homeless influence our society and possibly add to the reasons those oppose the bill or maybe why it was created
- make sure to cite your sources
