Stories of the Street
Have you ever came across a homeless person? What’s your first thought about them? Do you ever think what type of life they had before? Well John Albert Rodger a homeless person is going to tell us his story. Not every homeless person decides they want to be homeless. John is a Vietnam veteran, a father, and a United states Citizen. He had a pretty normal life when he was young. He lived with his father, mother, and older brother. His brother was in the military and when he was killed he decided to join as well. He as was in Vietnam during 69 and 71. He put his life in the life for less than four hundred dollars a month. To come back to disrespect from other citizens. They spit at him, urine, throw things at him. They totally disrespect him or is that how a veteran supposed to be treated He has more manners than most of the persons I come across throughout the day. He’s so respectful he stays in one side of the crosswalk so he won’t “bother” any one. He goes through all this when he shouldn’t have to he’s in a wheel chair and homeless shouldn’t he be living better if he fought for our country? That’s only one homeless persons everyday struggle now imagine what others go through. Next time you come across a homeless person and ignore them or disrespect him/her think about John. Not everyone chooses their life style. I’m positive no one wants to be homeless. It doesn’t take anything telling them “have a blessed day” or even buying them a donut. Like john said “ I could live with that” a simple conversation with them is a blessing.
