Have you ever wondered why a homeless person is homeless? What them to be in that specific place at the specific time , for you to see them, pass them across the street? Many choose to ignore the homeless if their male , female, Hispanic, American, African American because many automatically assume its their fault fir the position their in. I highly disagree with that opition.
-here you begin to touch on the negative stereotypes that we have of the homeless. Develop this idea more in a follow up paragraph. Where do these stereotypes come from? How do they stick around and why do they affect us?
Many don't know what happens the leads to the fact of some people become homeless.
-I can see this being a good topic sentence for the section that talks about John since his story is one that shows people not all homeless fit the stereotype
When I pass a homeless person I always try to give them whatever I have or bringing them a water from the store. Sometimes I do feel bad because I judge some homeless as using money for the wrong reasons , its not always the case.
-this point here I can see you discussing later on when you mention your family example since this is another personal example.
I did the mistake by judging John from "Stories of the Street". At first just looking at the picture I saw just a homeless guy in a wheel chair probably asking for money. Then I saw the video and felt bad, because no one knew what he was really about, and that he always keep a smile on a face because he was just happy to be alive an other day. Their is a lot of homeless like John that just want someone to talk to , for people to see them as they see theirself , regular human beings.
-remember for your final article you are a journalist for the LA times so find a way to write about John that doesn't talk about you being in class and doing an activity
Theirs many people who portray homeless as scary, lazy, bums, drug addicts, I was one of those people.
-this can be added and developed in the section you discuss negative stereotypes
Know having the optuurinity of listing to Johns story I see things differently. If you got to talk to a homeless person now, after listing to Johns Story would you give your last dollar away? Would you stop and have a conversation with a homeless person? We should give the homeless a hand o show them many poepl can make a differene , that their are people willing to help.
If we help we an decrease the number of homeless in Califonia, which is 22%.
-add more info like this, you need to create some context for this article. Include more sources and information that will help your reader get an idea of the homeless situation in california
I remember being in the car with my mom and my younger brothers, and we saw a homeless guy with a sign that read "will work for food". He was not lazy at all , all these ars pass by not one stops. My mom stops traffic on the one way street, she hamds him a slice of pizza from the pizza box we bought for the bbq at our house. I looked at his face and he had a big smile and said "God bless you, thankyou". Even though I did not hand him the food and did it it felt good to help out , a feeling of thanks goes a long way.
It seems that focus/topic for your final article is writing about negative stereotypes and representation of the homeless affect our ability to interact and help the homeless. You then have John's story and your own personal experiences to back you up your point. Develop these ideas more so they are clear and thought out.
