Blogger Response #1

Its astonishing how much the homeless population in Los Angeles has increased in the past years. It is also very surprising how they are treated and looked down upon.
-here you touch on negative stereotypes of the homeless- develop this more.  You are going to want to really break this down for your final article- where do they come from, how do they stick around, how do the affect our society? remember our homeless representations activity
- everything highlighted in green is about this stereotype topic

Many of the homeless people in the city do not like to be degraded. For example, John from "Stories from the street," just wants to be accepted in the community, and not looked at as a burden on anyone. He says that he feels horrible when he greets someone and they simply look the other way.
-you talk about this idea that homeless just want help or someone to talk to quite a bit.  Now are your talking about what John wants or what all homeless want?
-consider why you are mentioning and pushing this idea and what it does for your overall position/focus, which seems to be the way negative stereotypes of the homeless affect our ability to help them out
=also, if you are going to use John as an example then spend some more time on him.  Let the reader get something out of his story so that your mentioning of him as an example is most effective

Our views on homeless people are bad many times because a lot of them do not even try to help themselves and expect other people to help them first. In most cases, all they want is just to be able to interact with people without being judged for their living conditions because that is all that would make them happy, and they have accepted their way of life already.

For them (for them or for John? can you say that is the case for all homeless?), it would be nice just to be able to have a nice conversation with someone without having to fear someone reporting them to the authorities because they fear them.

Most people believe that the homeless should not receive any help from people or the government, but what they fail to realize is that a lot of homeless people who are out on the streets are like John, who were once soldiers that fought for our country and were left homeless due to not enough income and also because they were left psychologically  damaged from the war.

In my opinion, homeless people should be respected more instead of being dehumanized by other people. In reality, we are all equal, even if we may all have different social classes, everyone deserves the same amount of respect and to feel just as human as everyone else. A majority of the people left without homes didn't chose that lifestyle and are just striving to live life just like everybody else. They deserve a chance to build themselves back up after living in poverty for so long and in order to do that they need to feel accepted in the rest of the community instead of being brought down and looked down upon.
