Drug
addiction is defined as a chronic, relapsing brain disease that is
characterized by compulsive drug seeking and use, despite harmful consequences.
It is considered a brain disease because drugs change the brain: they change
its structure and how it works. These brains changes can be long lasting and
can lead to many harmful, often self-Destructive, behaviors. Drugs are
substance which has physiological effect when ingested or introduced into the
body (www.drugabuse.gov). There is much
type of drugs. Some are heroin, cocaine, MDMA, steroids, marijuana and many
more types of drugs. These drugs affect the body in much way. They can also
affect the families of the drug addicts. I choose drug addiction because one of
my family members where addicted to drugs from a small age. Are family was hurt in many ways like he was
hurting.

Beyoncé song: Pretty hurts
Beyoncé wrote the song with Sia Furler. Beyoncé meaning of the song was finding beauty in imperfection. ''Its really difficult to find a song with such a strong message that doesn't feel preachy"(song facts pg. 1). Pretty hurts won in the category for best song with a social message. Beyoncé says there's too much pressure on women to be beautiful.
Verse 1
The speaker is the mother who says to her daughter that she is a pretty girl. She tells her what's in her head doesn't matter. What you wear is all that matters.
Pre-Hook
The Artist is saying that it is just another stage pageant. She is going to take the crown without falling down. She also saying how she is going to be in the pageant show to take away the pain. Beyoncé is saying that pretty and that we shine the light on whatever's worst. Perfection is a disease of a nation. Beyoncé is also saying how we try to fix something but you cant fix something you cant see. Its the soul that needs surgery.
Verse 2
The artist refers to someone with blonde hair and a flat chest . She then says the TV says bigger is better. She also is talking about how the magazine vogue says that thinner is better.
Bridge
Beyoncé is saying that a doctor or pill can't take the pain away. She states that the pain is inside and nobody can free you from your body. She talks about how its the soul that needs surgery and plastic smiles and denial can only take you so far. She talks about how you break when the fake façade leaves you in the dark . You are left with shattered mirrors and shards of a beautiful girl.
Outro
Beyoncé is saying when you are alone and lying in your bed and you reflection stars right into you. She then asks the question Are you happy with yourself ? She also say s that when you strip away the masquerade and how the illusion been shed.

Mama said, you're a pretty girl
What's in your head it doesn't matter
Brush your hair, fix your teeth
What you wear is all that matters
What's in your head it doesn't matter
Brush your hair, fix your teeth
What you wear is all that matters
Just another stage
Pageant the pain away
This time I'm gonna take the crown
Without falling down, down
Pageant the pain away
This time I'm gonna take the crown
Without falling down, down
Pretty hurts
Shine the light on whatever's worse
Perfection is the disease of a nation
Pretty hurts
Shine the light on whatever's worse
Tryna fix something
But you can't fix what you can't see
It's the soul that needs the surgery
Shine the light on whatever's worse
Perfection is the disease of a nation
Pretty hurts
Shine the light on whatever's worse
Tryna fix something
But you can't fix what you can't see
It's the soul that needs the surgery
Blonder hair, flat chest
TV says bigger is better
South beach, sugar free
Vogue says
Thinner is better
TV says bigger is better
South beach, sugar free
Vogue says
Thinner is better
Just another stage
Pageant the pain away
This time I'm gonna take the crown
Without falling down, down, down
Pageant the pain away
This time I'm gonna take the crown
Without falling down, down, down
Pretty hurts
Shine the light on whatever's worse
Perfection is the disease of a nation
Pretty hurts
Shine the light on whatever's worse
Tryna fix something
But you can't fix what you can't see
It's the soul that needs the surgery
Shine the light on whatever's worse
Perfection is the disease of a nation
Pretty hurts
Shine the light on whatever's worse
Tryna fix something
But you can't fix what you can't see
It's the soul that needs the surgery
Ain't no doctor or therapeutic that can take the pain away
The pain's inside
And nobody frees you from your body
It's the soul that needs surgery
It's my soul that needs surgery
Plastic smiles and denial can only take you so far
And you break when the paper signs you in the dark
You left a shattered mirror
And the shards of a beautiful girl
The pain's inside
And nobody frees you from your body
It's the soul that needs surgery
It's my soul that needs surgery
Plastic smiles and denial can only take you so far
And you break when the paper signs you in the dark
You left a shattered mirror
And the shards of a beautiful girl

But you can't fix what you can't see
It's the soul that needs the surgery
When you'r alone all by yourself
And you're lying in your bed
Reflection stares right into you
Are you happy with yourself
It's just a way to masquerade
The illusion has been shed
Are you happy with yourself
Are you happy with yourself
Yes
And you're lying in your bed
Reflection stares right into you
Are you happy with yourself

Video: "Homeless people read mean tweets"
Homeless by Alexis Rodriguez
This Article is about homeless people reading things of what the public
thinks about them on twitter. Let me tell you right now, those tweets aren’t
nice at all. The tweets basically say things like why do they smell so much,
when they see a homeless person they get disgusted and so on. At the end of the
video the homeless people start crying. It’s like if people treat them as
others, as if they’re not human and don’t have feelings. Homeless people
shouldn’t be treated as individuals; they are just like everybody else. They
too have a beating heart, with feelings and emotions.
By looking at their
faces as they read the tweets, I see how much pain they are in after reading
them. They are in shock as too why people would say mean things about them,
really makes the viewers open their eyes and realize the things they go through
every single day. Some of the people in the video have been homeless for quite
some time.
I feel so bad for
them because some go through it alone and the ones who are a couple, are
rejected by the public because they are homeless. Also because in the video it
is freezing cold and some of them that are wearing jackets to keep them warm,
is probably all they got. Its things like these that make me want to help them.
To change this community for the better.

One of my pieces is Green Pool:
The artist that created the drawing is Chris. it was funny how I got Chris to draw this piece of art for me. I told my sister that if she can draw me a piece that represents some type of drug addiction. She told me I cant but I can tell my friend Chris. I was okay , thank you. Chris said yes. I told him , in the drawing can you included a container of marijuana and a guy falling from the container. he said okay its cool , but am going to add more things to it. I was okay its fine and thank you. I told him has much is it going to be. he told me buy me a sausage egg muffin form McDonalds. I was okay I bought him a comb. it came with two. The image has a container that takes up most of the space on the paper. In the container it is full of marijuana. the marijuana is green and has different shades of green and some browns and some yellows. On one of the sides of the container it has a jumping board. it also has a man that jumped off the jumping board. There is also a hole where the guy decided to jump into.
The drawing is about drug addiction. My social issue is drug addiction. In the drawing you can see that the marijuana is way bigger then the man. That means that the drug addiction has taken over the person. Its bigger than his own power of will. Drug addiction is like a swimming pool. The first time you go into a swimming pool you are scared and just trying to do it right and not get hurt. You slowly and slowly, at a regular speed (first timer). After, that they get the hang of it, they start consuming and wanting more and even more. They want more that they don't realize that its addiction . There speed doubles. Just like the amount they need to get high doubles or sometimes it is more double the amount they have consumed before. If the people with drug addiction don't get help on time some end up jumping the jumping board and end up dying of overdose.
Second of my pieces is
The artist that created this piece was myself, Wendy Cisneros. For this piece it has a women lay on a jail floor. her dress is blue with a line at the bottom of the first layer of the dress ,it has two layers . the dress is on the floor next to her jail cell. Her hair is messy and her hands are dirty. her eyes her extremely red and her make-up is messy and messed up . she is wearing only one high-heel on. Its pink and its dirty also. On her foot that doesn't have a shoe on it , you can tell she was walking and was stepping on dirt . Her foot from the bottom had a little cut. the women is also placed in between the jail bars.
I decide to create this picture because I wanted the audition to actually be able to see what happens to a person that's addicted to drugs. How some people end up look or how they end up becoming. the women in the design she was not in jail. It means that she is locked up in her own body addicted to drugs. That the drugs have because a part of her and her body. The drugs have incarnated into to her. its sad to see and person this way , addicted to the point that they don't know what reality. her dress is not on her because a affect of the drugs doesn't like her think and make her realize that she is not doing the things need to protect herself and her body: because when you consume drugs you are hurting slowly and slowly your body and you get to a time that its not fixable.
Am working on the other two pieces.

Domestic Violence
Domestic Violence is violent abuse that takes place in a home between two spouses however children fall victim to this violence. According to research children between the ages of 3-17 are exposed to domestic violence abuse and about 95% of the cases involve women and male partners. The effects that the children go through is witnessing, hearing, observing and being aware of the tension that takes place in the home.
In this painting domestic violence is taking place while a little girl is the room with her parents. The adolescent child looks to be worried and distressed however she is focusing her attention into knitting her scarf. This painting demonstrates how domestic violence affects children in the home. The painting is very detailed as it shows the father being the dominant spouse towards the mother as he holds her hands in a way where she is forced to listen to his voice. As the painting focus on the child she is placed in the front of the image where she is the direct focus of it all. Although her parents are arguing which seems to be in the bathroom area the little girl is placed in the bedroom with a black cover on her bed as she sits in a chair with her face hanging down trying to overshadow what she is witnessing and hearing. As she is looking down as if she's almost in tears the little girl could also be imagining her life and how domestic violence may play a role in her relationships. This image is expressing how domestic violence doesn't only affect the spouse however it sheds darkness over the children who witness it.

- Homeless
- Homelessness is the condition of people without a regular dwelling. People who are homeless are most often unable to acquire and maintain regular, safe, secure and adequate housing, or lack "fixed, regular, and adequate night-time residence. The legal definition of homeless varies from country to country, or among different jurisdictions in the same country or region. The term homeless may also include people whose primary night-time residence is in a homeless shelter, a warming center, a domestic violence shelter, a vehicle (including recreational vehicles and campers), squatting, cardboard boxes, a tent, tarpaulins, or other ad hoc housing situations. Art piece: Being Who You Are
LGBT
Coming Out
Beautiful is a song by Christina Aguilera and R&B singer that is active in the LGBT community. The song was written by openly lesbian singer song writer Linda Perry. Perry wrote this song just not for gay's but for anybody that can relate to the song. The lyrics and vocal in this song expresses the raw emotion of getting through hardship and criticism that can bring you down to your lowest point. The lyrics in this song speaks out the feeling of pain and low self esteem within the words. When the song opens it states "Don't Look At Me", it starts out letting you feel the insecurity with that person.
As the song goes on it gives the intense emotion of harder it is to be who they really is. In the chorus of the song represent the positive side which gives out hope, security, and high self-esteem. The lyrics in the song gives you confidence to live and be free within yourself despite what people might say toward you. Perry wrote the lyrics but the feelings of the message was brought out more through the vocals of Christina speaking out never give up on yourself to love you when no one else will.
Perry wrote this song as a tribute to the teenagers that committed suicide due to anti-gay bullying. This song is LGBT community anthem for people to have confidence in being who they are. The lyric in the song give empowerment to face the world of its negativity of a person being gay. Perry seen a reason in written this song because off all the teens and adults being attack and even killed behind being gay. It is so many people that is scared of being who they are and she points out that "You are Beautiful no Matter What People Words don't Bring me down" gives you inner peace of being you. She felt that a song like this can make a lot people stand up for themselves not to let people and there negative thoughts, action, and words bring you down. Perry enlighten the LGBT community with this song to be free, to be you, and most of all love you.

I chose the song "Don't Laugh At Me" by Mark Wills and the genre of this song is Contemporary Country Music. This song is about kids, teenager moms, and homeless people that have suffer from some type of bullying to them. people from different ages that aren't happy with the way other's treat them, and how they ask for a better treatment from their oppressors.
What the lyrics say about the social issue of bullying is that there are kids who never smile because of braces and because they're chosen last on the playground. The lyrics also talk about teenage moms that for some reason have to overcome their present reality now, with the responsibility of taking care of a child. The song says "don't have to be my friend, just don't laugh at me". The lyrics of this song also talk about a homeless who is ignored by others on the street.
Mark will is a well-known American Country music singer that started his professional singing career in the year 1996 with his debut album called " Eponymous". In the year 1998 he released the single "Don't Laugh At Me". Mark Wills as a singer has become a public figure that people look out to and that people listen to through his music. Mark has been recognized by the Recording Industry Association of America.
markwills.musiccitynetworks.com/index.htm?id=19082&sid=2446
This song was written by writer's Steve Seskin and Allen Shamblin and recorded by Mark Wills. According to the background information of this song, Allen Shamblin was inspired to writing this song due to the fact that one day his daughter came home from school and telling him that she was being picked on by other kids at school. The girl told her dad that she was being bullied because of her freckles. This song became a No.2 song on the country charts and leading to the Billboards Hot 100 songs. This song has also become an anti-bullying theme for other videos. The song itself has its own video to it that totally backs up the issue that the lyrics talk about which is bullying.
The art piece I chose for my social Issue bullying is called "The Eyes" by Amr Elshamy from (cairo Egypt). This art piece has no words but it shows a little kid walking across the school parking lot by himself, and in front of him there are three gigantic monsters with horns that seem to be looking at him like if they were waiting for him to get to where they are. The image also shows a foggy ambience a sort of cold and lonely moment. This piece of art clearly tells the viewers how kids who are molested and pick on see their aggressors and in this case the bully. That is what the bullied compare the bully with. They see bullies as gigantic monsters waiting to hunt them and hurt them. The artist did this piece of art based on his personal experience on being bullied. He says that he was bullied all his life but he found an escape door through art. Amr Elshamy talks about how he was affected by bullies when he was in school and how he had to skip school days do to the aggression towards him. Elshamy's piece of "The Eyes" was created as part of the Bully Project Mural, The Mosaic Art For A Movement by Lee Hirsch, the filmmaker behind the 2012 bully documentary.

Art piece: alcoholism
Alcoholism
Swimming pools Is a song by Kendrick Lamar that basically gives the majne reasons why most people drink and turn alcoholics. These lyrics say the most common reasons why people drink. " Now I done grew up round some people living their life in bottles Granddaddy had the golden flaskback stroke every day in Chicago Some people like the way it feels
Some people wanna kill their sorrows
Some people wanna fit in with the popular that was my problem. These lyrics gives 3 main reasons why people drink and one of the biggest reason why people drink is to kill their sorrows. It says his people get lost with so much alcohol they are consuming. It's so much alcohol it's like if the pool was filled up by liqour instead of water.
The reason why Kendrick Lamar wrote this song is because he comes from a low income community and drinking rates are high. He saw many people drink their lifes away just like when he says his granddaddy lived he life away in bottles. An important person in his life lived away his life with bottles like many loe income citizens do. A reason why people should listen to me drick Lamar is because most of his songs are things he went through his life at a younger age. We should take the artist serious because the examples he uses in his song are true. Kendrick Lamar wrote this single with Tyler williams. There is a video that goes with the song. It's a very known songs being one of Kendrick Lamar's top hits.

The title of the song
is Wine into Water by T Graham Brown the genre of this music is Country. The
song is about a man who is really troubled with alcohol and has hit rock bottom,
because of that. He is begging God stop his want for wine to a want of water.
It is a desperate plea to God. The lyrics discuss the problem everyone has with
alcoholism. The lyrics also relates to Alcoholism by saying the ways people
attempt to get rid of their desire for alcohol. The artist has credibility by
sharing personal events of his life. He shares personal alcoholism events by
manifesting them into a song. He is singing about it because this was something
he was going through so he felt he should share it to the world.People should consider listening to this song and this artist. The reason
why they should listen to this artist is because he sings about problems that
many people go through. The artist made the song by adding real life examples
in his music. T Graham Brown wrote Wine into Water. In the video it shows a man
who expresses that he is clearly struggling in life due to alcohol. This adds a great
effect which helps the audience feel sympathy for him.

"I'm an ape man
I don't feel safe in this world no more
I don't want to die in a nuclear war
I want to sail away to a distant shore
And make like an ape man"
Part 1: ‘Apeman’ was
created by a rock pop band called The Kinks (1963-1996). In the song, Davies
sounds so fed up on the original footage that several viewers thought he was
singing a certain f-word on the lyric, “the air pollution is a-foggin’ up my
eyes”. Davies is upset with the modern world and declares that he wants to
"sail away to a distant shore and make like an apeman". He explains
how mankind has structured the world today and how “he would leave the cities
and traffic to live in the jungle”.
Part 2: Ray Davies
usually sings and writes sarcastically about our way of living, but I suppose
he was being serious in this song about wanting to get away from this society
and to be able to live freely. This song is about how over the years we have
become so overpopulated that human no longer cherish natural resources. The
people don’t know now how to dealing with it all... We forgot how to live and
conflict with falsities. In a world where the population keeps growing our space
becomes limited. Nature will also deal
with it by increasing diseases, floods, etc. This song is also about someone
who wishes to go back in time where people appreciated each other, apprehended
value for one another, and things were generally much straightforward. Much of
what we once knew as life still exists, but over the years it will decay.
Instead of hunting, most of us work, etc. The biggest problem with humanity
right now is overpopulation; anyway, it's just about going back to a life that
is less worrisome of our own species, and less complicated.

The song I picked
is “Helping Each Other Die “by Hollohan. The genre of the sing is Hip Hop.
Helping Each Other Die, is about a couple that are extremely addicted to drugs.
They are living in a world that they are both killing each other. They are
extremely addicted that they don’t know the difference in reality and fanatic.
He asks himself if its love or if they are two idiots addicted to drugs. That the
drugs are like the devil, and he didn’t know it was so seductive. He and she
are attractive to each other but the drugs tempted them to continue consuming
more and more drugs. To the point of not being able to stop and end up killing
yourself of to overdose. It is saying that drug addiction can lead you death;
at some point the get extremely addicted that they need to consume even more. That
the drugs at some point make you confuse and cause different type of emotions.
When they get confused you cannot tell the difference in reality and the fanatic
of drugs.
Hollohan did write
this song, the song “Helping Each Other Die”. The video gives the song so much
more effective because in the video you see the pain and you can feel the pain
in the way he sings it and acts it. The song by itself is powerful, but the
video gives it an extra push to make it even better. To make a effective song, I
think you have to send a message to the audience and be able to connect with
different persons. To be able to create emotions just by hearing him sing the
song. The material that were used in my opinion is the social issue, of drug
addiction. Drug addiction is a big part of a lot of people’s lives. It has impacted, I think everyone at some
point goes through this. I can be a family member, girlfriend, boyfriend, anyone.
The video over all takes 7:06 minutes.
It is a good time and it teaches everyone something about drug addicts and the struggles
they face every day to get help or some don’t
get help in time and sadly end up dying.

Title of song: I feel like dying. The artist is Lil Wayne and genre is Hip Hop.
http://genius.com/Lil-wayne-i-feel-like-dying-lyrics
Art piece: Prescription for abuse. Daniel Baxter Art.

This song by Lil Wayne is the song that relates most to my topic of drug addiction. The song main point is that once the drugs are done, then the user feel like he is dying. This is the same feeling that drug abusers share with many different drugs. The feeling of being on top of the world while you are high, but the feeling of dying once the high is done. The art that i chose is extremely credible and strong because in the past years, prescription drugs have been abused more than previous decades. The lyrics in the song are describing the feeling of the drug along with a good description of the way the high makes you feel. It also describes the down side to the drug. My favorite lyrics from the song are "I am a prisoner, locked up behind Xanax bars". This relates to the art piece that i chose because Xanax is a prescription drug used to treat anxiety disorders and unfortunately it is now being abused and used by many people.
The musician is discussing this social issue because it is a part of his background. He is from New Orleans, Louisiana. He was raised in a society witch is known for drugs. He was also from a broken family as his father left the family when he was only 2 years old. I believe that he also has a personal connection to this social issue. Music artist are known to be users of drugs and many have overdosed. The artist is also credible to talk and discuss the topic. The reason why we should listen to this person because for one he is a public figure and that gives him the power to reach millions of people. He is also a person who was raised in the environment where drugs are always around and that gives him a closer look at the world of drugs. The song was written by James Scheffer and also by unknown writers. There is no video on this song and that makes it hard for the song to be really popular but it does have many views on you-tube. The song makes itself effective because the lyrics are really detailed on the topic of drugs and maybe that is the reason why it is not as popular. The art piece has an incredible strong message, it contains a prescription drug bottle and inside the small bottle is a person. This is showing the viewers that even prescription drugs can get you addicted and put you in a bad situation. The art piece also shows pill and the words "pain" written on what seems to be a tape measure. Pain is one of the main reasons why prescription drugs can get addicting. They are highly accessible and they are legal. This art piece is not very popular but it is very effective because the message is clear, you will get trapped if you abuse the substance.

Part One: Looking at the Product
Creep is a song by the American alternative rock band Radiohead. Thom Yorke wrote this song inspired by a girl he was attracted to. He didn’t feel confident enough to let her know how he felt. Thom Yorke says “Any man with any sensitivity or conscience toward the opposite sex would have a problem. To actually assert yourself in a masculine way without looking like you're in a hard-rock band is a very difficult thing to do…” He explains how troublesome it was for him to actually admit to a woman his feelings while being in a rock band. The lyrics talk about perfection and underestimating one self. In this song Yorke writes about not feeling good enough for someone or something. In addition to feeling out of place in a social environment or feeling different from everyone. This song tells about a person who can’t accept himself because of the social standards. Leading him to label himself as a creep because he is different than the model he looks up to. The lyrics read “I don't care if it hurts / I want to have control / I want a perfect body / I want a perfect soul.” This shows how deep he admires this “model" and doesn’t care “if it hurts” because he wants to be or feel special.
Eating Disorder is an oil based painting by Kim Noble which depicts a woman with an eating disorder in front of a mirror who sees herself overweight but in reality she is skinny. This painting is based on a single mother who deals with multiple identities classified as a mental disorder called dissociative identity disorder (DID). Painting is one of Kim’s way of dealing with her mental disorder.
